Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Mix in the milk and vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool completely.
  8. For the filling, whisk together the heavy cream and sugar until stiff peaks form.
  9. Cut the cooled cake in half horizontally and spread the cream filling over the bottom half, then place the top half back on.
  10. Melt the chocolate chips and pour over the top of the cake.
  11. Let it set before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the cake has completely cooled before filling and frosting.
  • Substitute dark chocolate for a richer flavor in the glaze.
